Mrs. Fish + Perch - Downtown LA Adventure

Dinner Beneath the Fish, Mocktails Above the City: A Night at Mrs. Fish & Perch Rooftop in Los Angeles

If you're looking for a one-stop night out in Downtown LA that’s effortlessly cool and visually stunning, look no further than the stacked duo of Mrs. Fish and Perch Rooftop Bar. Hidden below and perched above the same historic building, these two spots deliver an unforgettable dinner-to-drinks experience—all without needing to leave the block.

🍣 Start the Night at Mrs. Fish

Descending into Mrs. Fish feels like stepping into another world. The lighting is dim and sultry, perfect for date nights or a moody dinner with friends. Overhead, enormous glowing fish tanks stretch across the ceiling, casting an underwater glow across the space. Pair that with edgy art installations and plush seating, and you’ve got an atmosphere that’s part Tokyo speakeasy, part dreamscape.

The food? Incredible, especially the appetizers. If you're sharing plates, these three are non-negotiables:

  • Shishito Peppers – Tossed with turnip purée, tare sauce, bonito flakes, and shimeji mushrooms. Perfectly blistered and full of umami.

  • Seared Tuna Crispy Rice – Crispy rice topped with creamy avocado, spicy miso, pickled serranos, and seared tuna. Crunchy, spicy, silky—basically a party on a bite-sized square.

  • Baked Blue Crab Roll – Blue crab wrapped in soy paper with avocado and cucumber, finished with wasabi tobiko. A luxurious spin on the California roll.

The full menu leans Japanese, with plenty of raw options, creative rolls, and hot plates. Even the cocktails are thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented—but if you’re saving the sipping for later, don’t worry. The night’s just getting started.

🌇 Then Head Up to Perch

After dinner, ride the elevator to the Perch Rooftop Bar, just above Mrs. Fish. Here, the vibe totally shifts—airy, glowing, and panoramic.

Perch is one of the most iconic rooftops in LA, and it’s easy to see why. From the top, you get stunning 360° views of downtown, with the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels visible in the distance, its architecture catching the last light of day.

When we went, we kept it light with mocktails and just took in the views. No rush, no loud music—just breezy conversations, golden hour skies, and the soft flicker of fire pits as the sun set behind the skyline. It’s the kind of place where even a simple drink feels like a moment.

Mrs. Fish and Perch aren’t just next to each other—they’re layered, literally and experientially. One brings the cozy, dim-lit drama of a Tokyo night, the other delivers open-sky views and easy elegance. Together? They make downtown LA feel like a movie.
